Community Mangrove Clean-Up

A clean-up event organised between the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi’s Abu Dhabi Mangrove Initiative, Emirates Nature-WWF, and Dendra Limited.

Using remote sensing technology, an area was identified along the coast of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with large amounts of litter near or within the mangrove habitat. This event aims to have the local community come together and help remove and dispose of this litter in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. This will help the ecosystem recover, and prevent a significant amount of plastics from entering the environment.

Important reminders:

•  This event is open to adults and children aged 12+.
• Mangroves are known to be very muddy. Kindly wear comfortable clothes and shoes (hiking shoes, water shoes, or any old pair of shoes)
• Wear plenty of sunscreen and bring your hats.
•  A 2-minute boat ride will take volunteers from the meeting point to the clean-up area.
• Water will be provided, please bring your reusable water bottle.
