World Cleanup Day - Litter Survey

Bahr Baniyas,
Endangered Species

About the Event:

World Cleanup Day at Bahr Baniyas | Abu Dhabi

Join change-makers from across the UAE this World Cleanup Day as Connect with Nature turns its focus inland — to Bahr Baniyas in Abu Dhabi.

Lakebeds like this one are easy to overlook, especially when water levels drop. But even dry shorelines stay alive: they shelter desert flora, support resident and migratory birds, and hold the ground together until the rains return. The plastic and debris that blow in and catch along these margins don't stay put either — they break down into the soil and wash straight into the ecosystem with the first seasonal rainfall.

Together, we'll clear the site and carry out a citizen science Litter Survey, recording what we find so it becomes data. Every item logged adds to a growing picture of inland pollution across the UAE — evidence that helps shape where action goes next.

Come as you are, bring your curiosity, and leave knowing you've made a measurable difference.
