City Nature Challenge — Evening Insect Light Trapping on Saadiyat Island
Abu Dhabi is joining cities around the world for the City Nature Challenge, a four-day global event where communities come together to discover, document, and celebrate local wildlife using the iNaturalist app.
As the sun sets, a whole new world of wildlife comes alive. Join us for an evening insect light trapping session — a fascinating way to observe and document the insects that emerge after dark on Saadiyat Island. Every species you help record contributes real scientific data that supports the protection of Abu Dhabi's unique ecosystems.
Getting involved is simple:
- Download the iNaturalist app
- Join the session and observe the insects drawn to the light traps
- Help photograph and document what you find
