Join our co-founding partner Emirates Nature-WWF for an immersive online session as we delve into the oasis of life within the UAE's arid landscape. Explore how freshwater habitats like wadis and oases act as lifelines in a parched environment, intricately connected with climate dynamics!
In this session, we'll unravel the ecological significance of these precious water sources, nurturing unique ecosystems that are home to indigenous fish species and amphibians like the Arabian toad!
Gain insights into the challenges facing these fragile habitats, from water scarcity to habitat degradation caused by climate change.
ABOUT THE SERIES
This session is also part of a 10-session series, where you will explore the rich tapestry of life unique to the UAE, from the expansive desert sands to the hidden oases, freshwater habitats, and coastal regions, while understanding the intricate link between biodiversity and climate change!
Through expert-led discussions, you'll gain a deep understanding of the importance of biodiversity conservation, sustainable stewardship practices, and their role in mitigating climate change and preserving the UAE's natural heritage.
By attending a total of 7 sessions, you will receive a certificate of completion, recognizing your commitment to environmental education and conservation efforts in the region!
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
This session will be led by: Altaf Habib - Project Manager, Terrestrial Biodiversity Conservation, Emirates Nature–WWF
Altaf focuses on monitoring flora & fauna and exploring terrestrial ecosystems with a focus on ecological restoration of rare and endangered species.
